Marketing, Design e Tecnologia

To kick off 2026, Calgary BR Tech hosted an inspiring session titled “Marketing, Design e Tecnologia: Uma trajetória no Brasil e no Canadá,” featuring guest speaker Adriel Rabello. Held on January 19th at the Platform Innovation Centre, this event marked our first gathering of the year and focused on the intersections of professional growth, cultural adaptation, and technical innovation.

A New Chapter for 2026

As members of the Calgary BR Tech team, we were thrilled to welcome our community back for the first meetup of the new year. The evening was filled with vibrant energy, starting with a networking session followed by Adriel’s insightful presentation. We want to thank our partners, Platform Calgary, for providing the space, and Neo Omni for sponsoring the refreshments that fueled our discussions. This event sets the tone for a year dedicated to strengthening the bonds between Brazilian professionals in Calgary.

The Power of Adaptability

Adriel Rabello shared his journey from a creative agency owner in Brazil to a Marketing Specialist in Canada’s drone industry. A central theme of his talk was the Brazilian capacity for adaptability, which he described as a “life college” that prepares professionals to solve problems in real-time. He emphasized that while technical skills are essential, the ability to “read the room” and understand cultural nuances—such as the shift from informal WhatsApp communication in Brazil to the email-centric culture in Canada—is vital for career success abroad.

Education as a Professional Bridge

For many immigrants, the path to a local career involves returning to the classroom. Adriel spoke candidly about his experience at SAIT, where he specialized in Business and Marketing. He highlighted that education is more than just learning facts; it is an environment for building professional bridges. It was through a connection at SAIT that he secured a scholarship for a specialized bootcamp, which eventually led to his current role. His story serves as a reminder that consistency and dedication in one’s studies can open unexpected doors, even when many others remain closed.

Translating Technology for the Market

In his current role at Aeryon/Area Analytics, Adriel acts as a “translator,” bridging the gap between highly technical features and market needs. He presented the fascinating world of drone technology, including bio-mimicry drones that behave like birds to prevent “bird strikes” at airports. The key takeaway for our community was the importance of product marketing: the ability to take a complex hardware or software product and communicate its value clearly to diverse industries, from aviation to energy.

Strategic Tools: Design Thinking and Archetypes

Beyond personal anecdotes, the presentation offered practical frameworks for career and brand positioning:

  • Human-Centered Design: A three-step process involving listening, creating, and delivering to move from abstract ideas to concrete reality.
  • Jungian Archetypes: Adriel discussed using 12 personality archetypes to define a professional or brand identity—balancing between being a “Hero” who saves the day and a “Caregiver” who supports others.
  • The Soul of Work: Quoting Nizan Guanaes, he reminded us that “everything that is ready in life was built before in the soul,” encouraging us to identify what truly resonates with the people around us.

How Our Community Benefits

Events like this are the heartbeat of Calgary BR Tech. They provide a safe space for Brazilian professionals to:

  • Networking without Intentions: As Adriel suggested, the best connections are made when you are genuinely interested in others’ stories rather than just looking for a job.
  • Cultural Mentorship: Learning from those who have already navigated the challenges of the Canadian market, such as the importance of soft skills and empathy in local workplaces.
  • Professional Visibility: Our community acts as a launch pad and a support network, helping Brazilian talent become more visible in Calgary’s innovation scene.

Calgary BR Tech plays a crucial role as a dynamic hub for connection. We are more than just a meetup series; we are a community-led effort to ensure no Brazilian professional feels alone in this ecosystem. We invite you to join us for our upcoming events through June, bring a friend, and help us continue building a space where we can all thrive together.
